For years,
B+W has been recognized worldwide as a specialist in
the manufacture of top-quality filters. Supplementing the wide assortment of the
highest-quality glass filters from 17-122 mm for every
imaginable photographic application are now two new
production lines:
- an inexpensive filter series for the
"fun" photographer, who with a limited
budget would like to make technically perfect
snapshots and souvenir pictures (see "Praktica
Filter Series").
- a series of digital filters based
on software programs which were designed for
the perfect editing of digital pictures, but which
did not require the user to spend a great deal of
time in learning how to use them.
Guaranteed
simplicity of use was meaningful from the start,
because the B+W filter software was directed to a very
wide circle of users: i.e., to anyone who wants to add
more quality to a picture file.
At the same time, it makes no difference whether the
photo comes from the Internet or from one's own
digital camera, a photo hand telephone, the camcorder,
or from the scanner -- the filters are equally helpful
in processing all of these digital sources.

 Since
the software filters were conceived as plug-ins for the
by far most widely used picture processing programs
(Photoshop®,
Photoshop Elements®,
Corel Draw®,
etc.), there is no need to take the time to learn how to
use another new software program. The filter plug-ins
are characterized by the simplest intuitively
comprehensible use by means of sliders, together with a
preview of the filter effect which has been selected.

The program
realizes concepts like "brighter" or "more
color-intensive" in a way which meets high
standards. It does not operate with average values,
but evaluates and calculates each pixel individually,
in order to control the intensity of the filter effect
precisely for each pixel. Integrated into the program
were the filters most often asked for, both from the
point of view of photography and from the effects
desired: for example, "polarizing enhancer"
for saturated colors and radiant blue skies, or
"warm tone" for attractively fresh skin tones.

In
order to make available the best filters
for typical photo situations, B+W has
developed digital filters for the most
popular subjects. These are now
available in two production series, each
with six filters:
The new
B+W digital filters will enhance all
digital photos in brilliance, conveying
a touch of professionalism in the effect
on the final picture. Further advantage
for the customer are, for one thing, the
price (only about one-third of the price
for six glass filters), for another, the
digital filters can be used with any
camera, since they do not depend on the
thread size of a lens.
With
the introduction of the digital filters,
B+W is the only filter manufacture
worldwide which offers the appropriate
filter for almost all areas of
photography, digital or analog.
