Wan Xiang International Plaza Shanghai

We were commissioned by the architect Christoph Ingenhoven to photograph one of his projects, the Shimao International Plaza, a 52-storey, 318.88-metre building in the centre of Shanghai on Nanjing Road. It is one of the tallest buildings in the world.

After arriving we look as usual for suitable perspectives and vantage points to best present the building in question. High-quality lenses with a large image circle are an essential requirement if we are to obtain interesting and unusual views of the building.

We work exclusively with Schneider XL lenses and like using extreme wide angles to create the perspective we have chosen. This is the only way to show the building in its entirety from close up. Especially – as in this case – when you are photographing a very tall building, wide angle lenses with a large image circle are extremely important.

  Shimao International Plaza, Shanghai

The Shimao International Plaza stands right in the centre of Shanghai, surrounded by small, lively streets and traditional architecture. Vantage points that provide good perspectives are hard to find and often make great demands of the photographer and the equipment. With Schneider lenses it is possible to react appropriately to the situation in question and achieve optimal results.
